Bio:
Pamela Coddington has been marketing and public relations professional for over a dozen years, as a consultant, agency team member, or in-house director. Her personal mission is to find and promote the next wave of creative developments in technology, consumer products and services, the visual arts, and business.

Pamela is a magnet for entrepreneurial spirit and been on the promotional ground floor of many of the most innovative, edgy companies that changed the way we live and shop.

Her most recent corporate position was on the team that launched the Berkeley proof-of-concept store for Elephant Pharmacy, a new breed of pharmacy that offers Eastern and Western alternatives to health and wellness in one place. Working closely with the company’s founder, Pamela did community research, public relations, grass roots marketing, direct mail, in store materials, educational program development, advertising, and events to launch this new business concept. The store reached record numbers for drugstore customer counts in less than 6 months and many of the marketing and public event programs are still based on the templates created during her tenure.

In 2000, Pamela was on the founding team at AlwaysI.com, a start-up that distributed independent films via the Internet that was acquired by Hollywood.com, where she oversaw public relations, website copy, trade event participation, and online promotions. During her time there she garnered top media coverage that helped drive customer to this fledgling site.

Prior to AlwaysI.com, Pamela was the public relations and investor relations part of the marketing team at Reel.com, the online movie store that was acquired by Hollywood Video. On this team, she participated in the integrated marketing program that focused on a lost-leader promotion of the “Titanic” home video. This case study marketing program introduced the concept of buying movies via the Internet and launched the Reel.com brand. She also handled employee, media and investor communications during an acquisition, possible IPO, and layoffs.

Pamela joined Reel.com after working for Connors Communications, a marketing and public relations agency, where she was instrumental in launching many Internet business concepts to the media, many of which have remained important online leaders: Amazon.com, Disney.com, ONSALE, Alibris, LendingTree.com, Consumers Car Club, Tunes.com, TuneUp.com, Zip2.com, and Worlds Inc. During her time at Connors Communications, Pamela pioneered new strategies for promoting services and products on the web.

Prior to joining Connors Communications, Pamela was on the staff of the Interactive Media Festival when consumers were first discovering the “world wide web.” The Festival was an international showcase for artists and developers working with cutting edge new media that was created by Cunningham Communications and sponsored by Motorola. This multimillion-dollar one-week event showcased 35 of the best examples of digital media art from around the world plus commissioned multimedia performances by Blue Man Group, Merce Cunningham and Herbie Hancock.

Pamela has also consulted for a variety of consumer and technology companies as well as non-profit organizations including Bellamax, MS2, HotJobs Software (now HotJobs/Yahoo!), Purple Crayon, and REDF.

Pamela began her public relations career at Torme and Kenney, a marketing and public relations firm, where she assisted with public relations campaigns on a wide variety of consumer products including walnuts, cell phones, video games, and gourmet cookies.
In her free time, Pamela is an avid supporter of Bay Area contemporary arts organizations and individual artists. She has been the President of the Board for Gen Art, and consulted for several important non-profit arts organizations including Headlands Center for the Arts, and internationally renowned artist in residence program, and the di Rosa Preserve, the largest collection of contemporary Bay Area art. She also consulted with an art consultant, private art dealer, art auction house, museum, and independent film producer on research, market development, and public relations projects. She was recently nominated to join ArtTable, a national network of professional women working in the arts.

Pamela received her B.A. in Art History from New York University, with additional coursework completed at UC Berkeley (CA) and Temple University (Rome, Italy).
